We perceive different realities when we look at the same thing. Our experiences, expectations and thought patterns shape what we consider to be true. What happens when AI generates images of events that never took place? Stefan Brandt, an Americanist and cultural studies scholar, will discuss this in a public lecture at the Graz Museum on 12 November 2026 at 6 pm. Using surprising examples of perception, classic films and literary texts, he will examine the relationship between facts, perception and interpretation. “Alternative facts” and artificial intelligence will also be discussed. There will be an opportunity for discussion
following the lecture. Admission is free. Please register informally at perception(at)uni-graz.at.
